Placement Test

The placement test determines the level (A1–C1) at which course applicants will start (Directive, Article 5). Candidates who could not take the Turkish Proficiency Exam, those registered through additional placements, and direct course applicants take this test.

Administration

• The test measures listening, reading, writing and speaking.
• Questions progress from basic to advanced level; the speaking part uses a warm-up, a topic card and follow-up questions, as in the TYS.
• Writing and speaking are scored with rubrics by two instructors (see Assessment, Evaluation and Reporting).

Evaluation and Placement

* Candidates at C1 level complete their procedures with a Turkish Proficiency Exam result or a C1 level completion certificate to meet the requirement for starting university studies.

Reporting

Results are reported in a list showing name, skill scores, average and assigned level; course groups and class lists are formed accordingly and announced to learners.
